The trūRapid Lyme is a rapid test for detection of Borrelia burgdorferi antibody in canine serum plasma, or anticoagulated whole blood.
Lyme disease is a common vector-borne disease all over the world; it is caused by the bacterium Borrelia burgdorferi. Lyme disease is transmitted to humans through the bite of infected black legged ticks. Typical symptoms include fever, headache, fatigue and a characteristic skin rash called erythema migrans. If left untreated, the infection can spread to joints, the heart, and the nervous system. Lyme disease is suspected based on symptoms, physical findings (e.g., rash), and the possibility of exposure to infected ticks. trūRapid Lyme identifies C6 antibodies that are produced as a result of a Borrelia burgdorferi infection.
