scil animal care company GmbH was founded in 1960 under the name of PRAEMIX Wirkstoffe GmbH, as a subsidiary of Boehringer Mannheim GmbH (now Roche Deutschland Holding GmbH).

In 1998 PRAEMIX GmbH was acquired by BioNet Holding GmbH, a private investment company, and it has operated since then under the name of scil animal care company GmbH, specializing in the sale of equipment for veterinarians.
