Advanced Small Animal Ultrasound is designed for veterinarians and technicians with an intermediate level of ultrasound experience. Emphasis is on ultrasound of small and superficial structures, the use of Doppler and optimization of technical parameters to maximize image quality. Limited enrollment ensures dedicated instruction and ample scanning time. The highest quality ultrasound equipment will be used for the course.


Dr. Heng received his DVM from the Universiti Pertanian Malaysia in 1993. He continued his studies in the field of veterinary diagnostic imaging at the University of Melbourne, Australia from 1995 to 1997.  Upon completion of his study in Australia, Dr. Heng was appointed as a lecturer  at Universiti Putra Malaysia. In 2004, he completed his radiology  residency and master’s degree at Colorado State University. 


Dr. Heng is a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Radiology and the  European College of Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging.  He joined Purdue University in 2007  where he is currently a Clinical Associate Professor of Veterinary Diagnostic  Imaging. He is the author or co-author of over 20 peer reviewed publications  and has lectured and conducted radiology and ultrasound workshops extensively  both nationally and internationally. Dr. Heng’s clinical and research interests  include small animal ultrasound and radiology. 



This course is recognized and approved by AAVSB RACE for 14 hours of continuing education credit!
